Preschool

Poolesville Community Preschool, Inc. is a private, non-profit, parent-run, cooperative nursery school. The preschool is inspected and licensed by the State of Maryland and

is fully accredited by the Maryland State Board of Education. It operates under a Board of Directors consisting of five elected member parents. In addition, Poolesville Community Preschool is a member of the Maryland Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sex, creed, color or national origin.

The preschool occupies the lower level of the Poolesville Baptist Church; however, it is not affiliated with the church. A well-furnished classroom, a large playroom, and

akitchen provide the indoor setting. Outside, the grassy playground is equipped with swings, climbing equipment, riding vehicles and a variety of toys.

Poolesville Community Preschool gently introduces 3- and 4- year old children to the educational classroom and prepares them for kindergarten. They have the opportunity to develop their intellectual, physical, social, emotional and creative abilities under the careful guidance of highly qualified teachers and loving parents.

At Poolesville Community Preschool, children are invited to express themselves freely and are encouraged to feel good about themselves. Parents are equally encouraged to participate and to share their talents in the classroom. They become allies in the quest for understanding the 3- and 4-year old child.

Sprouting from the close cooperation among the teachers, parents and children are creative ideas that, when put to use, grow within each child a healthy and happy attitude toward school.

The cooperative nature of the preschool makes it unique. Parents are actively involved in making the preschool as good as it can be for their child. Like the children, Poolesville Community Preschool changes and grows every year.
